Biography

I completed my undergraduate and postgraduate training at the University of New South Wales in 1992 in the area of the biosynthesis of natural products in bacteria. From late 1992-1995, I worked on fatty acid biosynthesis in bacteria and plants at the Carlsberg Laboratory, Copenhagen Denmark. In 1996-1997 I moved to the laboratory of David Cane at Brown University, Rhode Island USA, working on the polyketide synthase involved in the biosynthesis of the antibiotic erythromycin. After returning to Australia, I began working on the polyketide synthase synthesising the antifungal drug Amphotericin B in collaboration with Kevin Barrow?s research group at UNSW. I am currently working at the University of Western Sydney, (Parramatta campus) where my group is interested in the regulation and biochemistry of bioactive compounds.
