Biography
Dr John Bidewell's academic background is in Education, Applied Psychology and Social Research. In 1992 he joined the University of Western Sydney (UWS) in the School of Nursing to advance the School's research initiatives. Later John commenced teaching Research Methods to students in the School of Nursing and in the School of Business, while operating a private research consultancy. More recently, as a Research Fellow, John joined and remains a member of the UWS, School of Nursing's Aged Care and Palliation (ACAP) research group with interests in dementia and palliative aged care. In 2011 he commenced as a Lecturer with the School of Biomedical and Health Sciences. John's PhD investigated how people respond to risk and return over time in the context of personal financial investment. He retains a continuing interest in decision making over time, risk and uncertainty, and would like to see insights from this field applied more to clinical decision making and behavioural health management.
