Biography
Dr Kym Butcher (nee Boon) joined the University of Western Sydney, in August 2008. She is currently an Academic Course Advisor (Accounting) and a Lecturer in Accounting within the School of Business at the Parramatta Campus.
Prior to joining UWS, Kym worked at Macquarie University from 2002 until 2008, completing her PhD in 2007. Kym's PhD was titled 'Compulsory Audit Tendering and Audit Quality: Evidence from Australian Local Government' She was supervised by Associate Professor Jill McKinnon and Dr Philip Ross.
Kym received her CPA Qualification in 2010 and has four publications to date from both her PhD and Honours research.

The paper 'Auditor appointment in compulsory audit tendering” published in Accounting Research Journal has been chosen as a Highly Commended Award Winner at the Literati Network Awards for Excellence 2012.
“The paper "Compulsory audit tendering and audit fees: evidence from Australian local government”, This paper won the prize for the best academic paper in accounting at the ‘Emerging Financial Markets and Services Asia/Pacific Conference’ in May 2004.
