Biography
Morwenna Kirwan joined the University of Western Sydney in June 2012 as a lecturer in the School of Science and Health. Prior to this, she was a member of the Institute for Health and Social Science Research at Central Queensland University in Rockhampton Queensland.
Morwenna's research and teaching interests are in health promotion and population health. Morwenna has two undergraduate degrees; one in Business and another in Exercise Science, both with majors in Information Technology. Morwenna followed this with a Masters of Exercise Science with a major in Sport Psychology. Morwenna has recently completed her PhD (at Central Queensland University) on the effectiveness of smartphone applications to improve health behaviours. This is a new exciting field of research and Morwenna’s studies included the design, development and evaluation of smartphone applications focused on physical activity and chronic disease self-management. Morwenna intends to carry out research on internet/web 2.0 applications, social networking and smartphone applications in health and medicine.
