Biography

Associate Professor Paul Wormell's activities at UWS encompass teaching, research and academic governance. He is currently Chair of the university’s Academic Senate, and a member of the Board of Trustees.  He has many years of experience in academic administration and governance, course design and student advising.  His scholarly background is in Physical Chemistry, specialising in spectroscopy. At UWS he has taught a wide range of subjects in physical, analytical, inorganic, environmental and forensic chemistry. In recent years he has co-ordinated units in forensic science, forensic chemistry and laboratory quality management; he also teaches specialist lectures in molecular spectroscopy and quantum properties of chemical systems. His research is based on experimental spectroscopy and computational chemistry, and current projects involve the spectra and structures of biomolecules, including pteridine derivatives. Outside UWS his professional interests include the Royal Australian Chemical Institute and the Australian Academy of Forensic Science.
