Biography

Dr Susan Armstrong teaches, researches, presents and publishes in the areas of family law and family dispute resolution. She has initiated programs to support students transitioning to Law School, and contributed to the development of resources to support the shift at UWS to standards based assessment. In 2008 she received a national teaching award and in 2010, 2009 and 2004 UWS acknowledged Susan?s excellence in teaching. Susan has been the chief researcher in a three year project for two Family Relationship Centres in south-western Sydney to investigate culturally responsive family dispute resolution. In 2011, the Commonwealth Attorney General released the first report from this research Culturally Responsive Family Dispute Resolution in Family Relationship Centres: Access and Practice. She holds qualifications in law, mediation, history, literature and education. Susan has worked at the University of Western Sydney School of Law since 1996 and, before that, in research and policy positions at the Family Court of Australia and the Commonwealth Administrative Appeals Tribunal.
