Biography

Roger H. Juchau is Emeritus Professor of Accounting & Management at UWS. He was appointed Foundation Professor to the University of Western Sydney in October 1990, where he served as Business Dean for two periods. His teaching interests include financial accounting, financial management and accounting analysis. His principal research interests involve private wealth management, field studies on valuation of specialised assets, professional accounting education and financial management. His research has appeared in academic and professional journals and monographs. Professor Juchau regularly presented his research at conferences in Europe, North America and South Asia.  He provided editorial review to Accounting Education, Issues in Accounting Education, Australian Accounting Review, Accounting, Auditing and Accountability, Abacus and Accounting, Business and Financial History. He has texts published by Lexis Nexis, Pearson, Cengage and Routledge.

Before coming to the University of Western Sydney, Hawkesbury, he was Foundation Professor of Accounting and Finance at Lincoln University, New Zealand. He also held academic posts in Australia at Macquarie University, the University of Western Sydney, Nepean, and the Queensland University of Technology, and was Commonwealth Foundation Fellow at the University of the South Pacific (USP).  He initiated and led the development of four accounting degrees at USP, UWS Nepean, UWS Hawkesbury and Lincoln University. He has been an external assessor and examiner for universities in Malaysia and AVCC’s Higher Education Directorate panel member, Department of Education and Training. He provided university strategic reviews and advice to Papua New Guinea and Divine Word University (DWU).

He is a leading management educator and management developer, and has regularly conducted executive programs and consultancies for leading Australian and New Zealand enterprises and professional societies.  His executive development programs have involved Radobank, Brambles, Rural Bank, Hunter Douglas, Toshiba, CSR, Union Carbide, Perkin-Elmer, Civil & Civic, AMP, Wellcome Australia, Shortland County Council, Trust Bank, NZ Dairy Board, Surveyor Indonesia, Australian Institute of Management, CPA Australia, the Local Government Centre - Canberra, New Zealand Society of Accountants, Ernst & Young, ANZ Bank, KPMG Peat Marwick, State Rail, Carter Holt, NZ Institute of Management, and Monash University.  His consultancies have ranged through Australia, New Zealand, South Asia and the Pacific.  He is a former member of the Centre of Excellence (Financial Advisory Services) of CPA Australia and program reviewer of the Academy of Financial Services (USA) and company monitor with the Australian Shareholders’ Association.

Professor Juchau is a graduate of New South Wales, Queensland and Sussex Universities and Fellow of CPA Australia and the NZ Institute of Management. In 1989, he was Visiting Scholar at the University of California, Davis, and in 1994 and 1999, Visiting Professor at Imperial College, University of London at Wye.
