Biography

Christian was the kind of kid for whom the entire Wonderworld ride had to be stopped, it was too boring - he wanted to get off. School was no better. At university, studying Industrial Design, he took a year off to produce his first product and sold 13,000 units successfully. He travelled the world, climbed 5000 meter passes in the Andes, Bhutan and China. Swam on the beaches of Copacabana, Cape Levique, and the Andeman Islands. Later he took a break and drove his 1952 Vanguard Ute across Australia, and slept in his swag under the open sky. He loves sailing the Ionian Sea. In his heart of hearts he is a racing car driver, has an Apple tattoo on the inside of his forehead and a moderate shoe fixation. He is enamoured with his Atomic coffee machine and has a thing for his favourite shop Manufactum in his native Munich. He is currently completing his PhD in Design and lives with his wife, best friend and muse on the top of the Blue Mountains were above all he tries to take the time to smell the roses - the hardest task!

In his professional life, besides servicing a range of mainstream design clients, Christian has carved out a niche as a designer by contributing towards improving Environmental Health in Indigenous Australian Communities. He has been working in this field since his graduation in 1991.

Christian's research interest is to use product design interventions to create, support and maintain a healthy living environment for Indigenous Communities in Australia and beyond.
