Dr Matthias trained and worked in England, Australia and the USA. He trained in reproductive immunology under Professor Alan Beer of Chicago and subsequently introduced this concept and service under the name Sydney Reproductive Immunology, established in 1995. He has special interest in reproductive immunology includes immune issues and interactions between the reproductive system, hormones and pregnancy (e.g. repeated miscarriages imlantation failures after IVF and endometriosis and other immunological conditions at the interface with the endocrine and reproductive sysyems).

  

 He also has interests include general gynaecology, laparoscopic, pelvic floor and incontinence surgery. In addition to colposcopy, gynaecological endocrinology  and high risk obstetrics.

 A/Prof Matthias is well known internationally and nationally in the field of reproductive Immunology.

 

A/Prof Matthias authored numerous articles and publications and presented his work and research papers in international and national conferences.

He has academic and research interests and lectures widely in topics of his special interest. 

He is heavily involved in training of medical students registrars and young specialists.
