Biography

PROFILE

Mr Donnelly has been a practising barrister in Sydney since May 2011. Before coming to the Bar, Mr Donnelly worked as a Tipstaff to the Honourable Justice Peter McClellan AM (the Chief Judge at Common Law of the Supreme Court of New South Wales) in 2010. Mr Donnelly has also worked as a researcher to the Honourable Michael Kirby AC CMG (former Justice of the High Court of Australia) between November 2009-February 2010. In his capacity as researcher, Mr Donnelly assisted Mr Kirby in the development of a publication/paper on the Honourable Gough Whitlam AC QC (former Prime Minister of Australia), titled "Whitlam as Internationalist", which was later delivered at the "Whitlam Lecture 2010" at the Gilbert + Tobin Centre on 25 February 2010.

Mr Donnelly has also held a casual lecturing appointment with the School of Law at the University of Western Sydney ("UWS") since 2009, where he has taught various units in the Bachelor of Laws degree offered by the UWS School of Law. In particular, Mr Donnelly has taught Anti-Discrimination Law, Administrative Law, Law Foundation and Work, Health and Safety Law. Mr Donnelly has also held a casual lecturing appointment with the Faculty of Law at Macquarie University ("MQ") and the University of Wollongong since 2012.

Mr Donnelly is the recipient of the Bachelor of Laws (Honours Class 1) degree at UWS (2006-2008), Bachelor of Arts degree from MQ (2003-2005) and a Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice from the College of Law (2009). Mr Donnelly graduated with the University Medal ("UM") in the Bachelor of Laws degree at UWS in 2009. Mr Donnelly is the author of various Reports, Journal Articles and Publications. Mr Donnelly was admitted as a lawyer to the Supreme Court of New South Wales on 3 July 2009.
