Mr Klaus Veil

Associate Professor Klaus Veil has been involved in healthcare technologies for over 25 years. For seven years he was the CIO of a major Sydney-based health care corporation - as a result, the integration of diverse eHealth and health information management systems has been his ongoing focus.

Klaus's academic background is medical technology development and economics. He is Vice-President of the Australasian College of Health Informatics, has taught at LaTrobe University, Melbourne, Sydney University and the University of Ballarat.

Klaus is active in the development and implementation of health information technology standards both locally and internationally. He chairs the Standards Australia committees IT-014-06 "e-Health Messaging" and IT-014-06-03 "Patient Administration" as well as HL7 Australia. For eight years, Klaus served as the only non-US member on the Board of HL7 USA. Klaus also manages a specialised Health IT systems interoperability consultancy in Sydney.
