Biography

Previous Academic Roles:

I began my academic career as a full time Senior Lecturer in the Division of Criminal and Community Justice at the University of Huddersfield, UK between 2006-2009 contributing to both the BSc. (Hons) Applied Criminology and FdSc. Police Studies degree programs, as well as teaching into the Masters program.  From 2009 I was appointed as Lecturer - Criminology and Social Research in the School of Social Sciences at the University of New South Wales, Australia.

Throughout my academic career I have been involved in the supervision of Honours, Masters by Coursework, Masters by Research and PhD students in the field of Criminology, Criminal and Community Justice.

Prior to entering full time academia I worked in the field of Corrections/Criminal Justice and Community Safety in the following roles:

  • Specialist Crime Team Manager – Kirklees Safer Communities Partnership,West Yorkshire, UK, (May 2004 –December 2006).
  • Community Safety Research Manager – Bolton Safer Communities Partnership, Greater Manchester, UK. (January 2003 – May 2004).
  • Senior Policy Officer (Crime Prevention/Reduction) –Oldham Safer Communities Partnership, Greater Manchester, UK. (October 2001 – January 2003).
  • Advice and Guidance Worker – HM Prison Manchester, GreaterManchester, UK. (December 2000 – October 2001).
  • Through Care Worker – HM Young Offenders Institution Lancaster Farms, Lancashire, UK. (July 1998 – December 2000).
