Research
In July 2012 Tim will submit his thesis which is titled "Cluster dynamics: an investigation of cluster drivers and barriers across a cluster life cycle". This research investigates an Australian based aerospace business cluster with a particular focus on the inter-relationship of cluster drivers and barriers across the life cycle of clusters. Through this research it is contended that clusters need to consider drivers and barriers which are outlined in the cluster literature but also need to be concious of cluster specific drivers and barriers. It was also outlined in this research that cluster drivers and barriers have inter-relationships which may see multiple drivers and/or barriers combining their impact upon the cluster. Furthermore it was shown that cluster drivers and barriers are not mutually exclusive as has previously been suggested. The inter-relationships which were identified were also show to change across the life cycle of a cluster. Overall this research promotes a level of dynamism which has not previously been demonstrated in the lcuster literature.
