Mrs Jan Sayers

Jan Sayers is a Lecturer in the School of Nursing & Midwifery, University of Western Sydney. She has worked as an academic since 2008 assuming senior leadership roles as the Director of Learning & Teaching (2010) and Deputy Director of Learning & Teaching (Curriculum) in 2009.  Prior to joining UWS Jan’s professional background in nursing, management and education encompassed senior management and clinical roles in Area Health Services, the Aged Care sector, and Primary Health Care. She has also undertaken consultancies for Area Health Services (clinical services reviews; nurse education) and the Aged Care sector (accreditation and records management). Jan currently teaches postgraduate students within the Masters of Nursing (Clinical Leadership) and Masters of Nursing (Education/Research) programs and across the undergraduate program at UWS. Jan is also actively involved in research related to the nurse educator role in clinical practice. Her other research interests span leadership and workforce issues, chronic and complex care and education. Her expertise is in mixed methods research. She was an inaugural Editorial Board Member for the Journal of Nursing in Healthcare & Chronic Illness in 2011 and is an active peer reviewer for national and international journals
