Biography

Barbara Beale RN, RM, M N (Hons), Cert 1V TESOL. FACN.

 

Barbara has been an academic in the School of Nursing and Midwifery for 24 years.    She has held research grants and has substantial publications.   While at UWS Barbara has held positions such as acting Department Head, and Head of Program Bachelor of Health Science, at the same time teaching extensively in Nursing and  Health Science (non-nursing) programs..    Prior to this Barbara had a solid career over many years as a Registered Nurse and Registered Midwife in the NSW Public Hospital system.

In recent years Barbara’s attention has turned to the increasing challenges of the literacy needs of many of our students and was an inaugural member of the literacy team in the School.  To this end Barbara has completed TESOL and Training & Assessment qualifications.   Barbara has been immersed in all aspects of the literacy strategy and in particular developed many of the activities conducted in the Clinical Communications Workshops.
