Biography
Associate Professor Liz Halcomb has worked at the University of Western Sydney since 2004. She is currently the Deputy Director of Research in the School of Nursing & Midwifery. Prior to commencing her academic career she worked in a range of acute care settings and clinical research units. Liz was awarded a PhD in 2006 for a mixed method project exploring the general practice nurse role in heart failure. Since that time her teaching and research interests have focussed on general practice nursing, nursing workforce, chronic disease, nurse education and mixed methods research.
Liz has a strong track record of publication, with over 63 peer reviewed papers (h-index 13) and 8 book chapters. She has also co-edited Special Editions of both Advances in Contemporary Nursing and the International Journal of Multiple Research Approaches. Liz has co-edited the text “Mixed methods research for nursing and the health sciences”. Liz is also an active peer reviewer for a number of Australian and International journal and both the NHMRC & ARC.
Since 2007, Liz has received a total of $1.29 million external & $77 659 internal research funding. She is currently a CI on an ARC, ALTC and NHMRC grant.
Liz has experience in supervising both Bachelor of Nursing (Hons) and PhD students to completion. These students have conducted research in the areas of nursing workforce, chronic disease management, family health, models of care delivery and leadership.
