Biography

Stephen Tomsen is a Professor of Criminology at UWS. He is a member of the Institute for Culture and Society and the Sociology and Criminology staff in the School of Social Sciences and Psychology.  He has decades of research experience, publishing, and an international reputation for his work on violence (including homicides), crime and culture, policing, masculinity, sexuality, drinking and drug use. Professor Tomsen's published output includes seven books and numerous refereed national and international articles and papers in leading criminology and social science journals. Since his appointment at UWS in 2008 he has been the lead or a co-investigator on seven research projects attracting more than $1 million in external competitive income.
