Higher Degree Research Candidate Survey Information
The information and resources on this page have been collected to benefit Higher Degree Research (HDR) candidates who wish to conduct online surveys using Survey Monkey. (opens in a new window)
An online survey conducted by research students must only be commenced following review and approval of the research by the UWS Human Research Ethics Committee.
What is Survey Monkey?
Survey Monkey is a tool that allows you to create online surveys. You are able to analyse results in real time, download the data and import into SPSS if you wish. Take a tour of Survey Monkey. (opens in a new window)
How much does it cost?
There are a number of packages available:
- Basic package is free, however you can only have 10 questions and 100 responses per survey.
- Pay per month starting from $26 enables unlimited questions and a large number of responses.
All higher degree research students are supported to conduct their research under the Research Higher Degree Candidature Essential Resources Policy. Please discuss with your supervisor or the HDR administrative support staff in your School or Institute how to access these funds.
Before I set up my account
Design your survey - discuss formal elements with your Supervisory Panel.
As a UWS research candidate your survey will meet the UWS visual identity standards. Unless specifically exempted by the Human Research Ethics Committee, your survey will use the UWS Logo positioned in the top right hand corner of the screen. Obtain approval for your protocol from the UWS Human Research Ethics Committee.
I have set up my account, what next?
Create your first survey! (opens in a new window)
The front page of your survey must:
- Provide all information about the survey, its purpose, who is conducting it
- Provide the UWS complaints clause providing advice about how participants may contact the University if they wish to discuss any aspect of the ethical conduct of the research
- Advise potential participants that by completing the survey, they have consented to the data being used for the research purposes described
- Include the Human Research Ethics Committee protocol number (the Hxxxx number issued for the project)
