Education Technology Program (ETP)

ETP is an ongoing collaborative project of the Student Learning Unit, Teaching Development Unit, Library and Information Technology Services.

• Confused by the University’s online systems?
• Do you know how to do online research or find resources using the library website?
• Do you know what computer software are available in the campus computer lab and how to print your document at campus?
• Do you know what ‘vUWS’ is? 
• Do you know where and how to find your lecturer’s announcements or assessments in vUWS?
• Do you know how podcasts and Lectures Online work in vUWS?
  

The Student Learning Unit (SLU) has an online program called Education Technology Preparation (IT) that is specifically designed to introduce new students to the online study environment at UWS.

In this program, you will learn how to use the library online research and services, computer lab, printing facilities, vUWS (the online learning environment at UWS) and access podcasts and Lectures Online. 

Content

The ETP program is delivered via vUWS. It can be conducted face-to-face in the computer lab or online. The program consists of the following four modules:

Module 1: About vUWS and How to use vUWS

• What is vUWS
• How to navigate around vUWS
• How to access vUWS support

Module 2: Computer lab and printing facilities at UWS campuses

• How to activate MyUWS account and change passwords
• How to use Platform Web to register for tutorials
• How to access computer lab and printing facilities

Module 3: Library online research and services

• How to access the Library online services
• How to use the Library for online research

Module 4: Online literacy: Podcasts and Lectures Online

• How to complete various online tasks in vUWS, such as posting and replying to messages on the discussion board, accessing podcasts and Lectures Online and submitting an assessment online.

Accessing ETP vUWS

1) If you have not activated your MyUWSAccount, you need to complete the first section here: How to activate myUWS account

2) If you have already activated your MyUWSAccount, you may proceed to log into the ETP vUWS site.

3) The ETP online program is designed for self-directed learning. On this site, please fill in the evaluation form. Your feedback will help us improve the program. To self register go to ETP vUWS. It will take 30 minutes to activate your access.

Please note: Face to face workshops are only available in the beginning of each semester.

4) If you are a visitor wishing to trial the ETP vUWS site and possibly provide feedback, you may use the guest login and go to: ETP UWS
