A list of resources has been identified in this section to specifically assist teaching staff to effectively work with students with disabilities in the university environment. The resources combine inclusive practice and best practice.
The Disability Service can assist academics with managing in-class tests, mid semester exams and school run final exams. The Disability Service is able to provide scribes, readers, practical assistants and supervisors providing at least two weeks notice is given. The Disability Service will meet the cost of providing this assistance.
You can now complete a “Request for Scribe/Reader/Supervisor for Mid Semester Exams/School Run Exams" form online. You will receive an email receipt of your submission and the Disability Service will contact you to confirm arrangements. It is the School's responsibility to arrange booking of a venue. Please contact the Disability Service at midsemesterexams@uws.edu.au if you have any queries regarding Mid Semester Exams or School Run Exams.
An Academic Integration Plan (AIP) stipulates the reasonable adjustments that need to be implemented by relevant UWS academic, examination and administrative staff. Each session, each students' AIP is revised to ensure the strategies meet the current needs of the student.
A Glossary of Terms has developed to provide academics and staff with an explanation of the reasonable adjustments stipulated in the student's Academic Integration Plan. It is strongly recommended that Academics and other relevant staff familiarise themselves with the Glossary of Terms to ensure they understand what is required prior to implmentation of the AIP. The Glossary of Terms should be read in conjunction with the AIP.
