
Some online units use browser plug-ins such as Adobe Reader to view PDF files. To view materials in your online units, you may need one or more of the plug-ins below.
The links below are to free and publicly available plug-ins.
You will need an Internet browser on your computer to access vUWS. We recommend using Internet Explorer 6 (Windows PC) or Netscape 7.2 (Macintosh) with vUWS.

Adobe Reader is free software that lets you view and print Adobe Portable Document Format (PDF) files on a variety of hardware and operating system platforms.

If you have an early version Microsoft Office or you do not have Office installed on your computer at all, you may not be able to view Word, Powerpoint or Excel files your lecturer has put online. You can download a free viewer to view Microsoft Office documents.

Macromedia Shockwave is a free software which allows you to access interactive animations and activities.

Java is required by some components of vUWS. Most Internet browsers already come with Java, but if yours does not have it you can download a free copy. Microsoft Windows XP needs the Java Virtual Machine installed to use Java applets like vUWS Chat.
