How to apply for postgraduate coursework courses

For postgraduate coursework courses, applications for admission are through the Universities Admission Centre (UAC).

Only Australian citizens or holders of permanent resident visas should apply using the process outlined below. Non-residents should apply through UWS International.

Current UWS students applying for M Teaching courses

UWS has special arrangements in place for *current domestic UWS students who would like to apply to one of the following Master of Teaching courses:

  • Master of Teaching (Primary) + Master of Teaching (Primary) Advanced
    • You should be completing a UWS undergraduate degree or equivalent, which has been assessed to be suitable for primary teaching by the NSW Department of Education and Training (please see www.det.nsw.edu.au/employment/teachnsw/teacherqual.htm for details). You must have studied in at least three subject areas, or be prepared to do further study as well as the Master of Teaching (Primary).
  • Master of Teaching (Secondary) + Master of Teaching (Secondary) Advanced
    • You should be completing a UWS undergraduate degree or equivalent. We will assess the units you have studied to see if you are eligible for the program.
  • Master of Teaching (Early Childhood)
    • You should be completing the UWS Bachelor of Early Childhood Studies (Child and Family).

If you are a *current UWS student, and you are interested in applying for one of the courses above, you will be able to apply directly to UWS.

Master of Teaching (Early Childhood)

The School of Education will contact currently enrolled Bachelor of Early Childhood Studies (Child and Family) students during class.  Alternatively, you can contact Lizzy Pemble on telephone (02) 4736 0334 or email e.pemble@uws.edu.au

*You are considered a current student if you are enrolled in units in a Bachelor's degree in Spring or Q4 of the current year.  All non-current students must apply through the Universities Admissions Centre (UAC).  All current International students must lodge an application through UWS International.

Applying via UAC

Applications are lodged using the apply-by-web form on the UAC Website.  The UAC Postgraduate Coursework Booklet is on the UAC website or call the Course Information Centre on 1800 897 669 and ask for a copy to be sent to you.

The Table of Courses on the UAC web site and in the Postgraduate Coursework Booklet provides a summary of courses available for Intakes 1-3, including the estimated tuition fees, and identifies those courses with Special Admission Requirements. Descriptions of the courses including admission requirements can be found in the UWS Handbook.

UWS uses a preference-based system for postgraduate offers. This means you will receive only one offer, for the course highest in your preferences for which you are eligible. Please make sure you consider your preferences carefully.

For the latest information, you should regularly check the "Course Updates" page at the UAC web site for new, cancelled and general course updates.
