
The 2009 student contribution amounts are set for students who commenced a unit of study with a census date on or after 1 January 2009, based on the discipline area for that unit of study and the rate set by each higher education provider.
Student contribution amounts for students who were enrolled in Administration, Accounting, Commerce or Economics courses before 2008 are different. Contribution amounts for students who were enrolled in Mathematics, Statistics and Science courses before 2009 are also different.

Pre-2009 students: For pre-2009 students, the maximum student contribution amount that may be charged for mathematics, statistics and science units is $7,412.
The reduced maximum student contribution amount for units of study in mathematics, statistics and science applies to all students who commence their course of study on or after 1 January 2009, regardless of the course of study.
The national priority maximum student contribution amount will also apply to continuing students who transfer to a Natural and Physical Sciences course of study from a non Natural and Physical Sciences course of study.

For pre-2008 students, the maximum student contribution that may be charged for Accounting, Administration, Economics and Commerce units for 2009 is $7,412.00. This amount applies to Commonwealth supported students who began their study before 1 January 2008.
The transitional arrangements for pre-2005 students and pre-1997 students will end on 31 December 2008, regardless of whether students have completed their courses. From 1 January 2009, continuing former pre 2005 and pre-1997 students will be covered by the same arrangements as apply to students who commenced in 2005.
