Progression Appeal Process

You will be advised in writing of the progression check outcome. If you fail a progression rule, other than “at risk”, you may wish to consider lodging an appeal.

Appeal outcomes are normally notified to students no later than five working days before the beginning of a teaching session.

Can I appeal the progression outcome?

You have the right to appeal against a decision that excludes or places you on conditional enrolment for unsatisfactory academic performance.

If you have been excluded from study for unsatisfactory academic performance you may appeal to the Academic Senate on the grounds defined as misadventure and extenuating circumstances under the Progression and Unsatisfactory Progress Policy.

If you have been placed on conditional enrolment for unsatisfactory academic performance you may appeal to the College Education, Assessment and Progression Committee on the grounds defined as misadventure and extenuating circumstances under the Progression and Unsatisfactory Progress Policy.

Your appeal must be lodged in writing and clearly outline the grounds for appeal and include supporting documentation to provide evidence for your appeal. Please refer to the definitions of Special Consideration under the Special Consideration Policy.

When do I lodge my appeal?

Your appeal must be lodged by the date specified in your progression check outcome email.

Appeals lodged later than the specified deadline will not be considered unless you can provide documentary evidence of circumstances beyond your control.

For all progression appeal dates please refer to your progression check outcome email.
