Counselling Service

We all experience difficulties and confusing times in our lives. The Counselling Service can help you explore and address your concerns. Our professional staff can provide a range of strategies to help you do your best during your time at UWSCollege.

Our goal is to help you develop the personal awareness and skills necessary to overcome problems and to grow and develop in ways that will allow you to take advantage of educational opportunities at UWSCollege.

SKILLS DEVELOPMENT

Study and life skills workshops are run by the Counselling Service. They can help you to develop the study, life and professional skills you need to succeed in your studies. We offer a variety of workshops on topics including:

Do presentations and stress less
This workshop is for students with low to moderate levels of anxiety in relation to public speaking who want to brush up on their tutorial presentation skills.

Master your memory
Learn strategies to boost your memory by attending this workshop designed to enhance your academic performance.

Management exam worry – be your best
Learn how to master your exam anxiety and stay in your “Peak Performance Zone”.

      »    Westmead campus: 1 pm to 2 pm, Friday 13 September

COUNSELLING

The Counselling Service is confidential and free to all UWSCollege students. We have offices on each campus and appointments can be arranged on the UWSCollege campus of your choice. We provide help with personal, emotional, social and relationship difficulties. Some of the benefits of counselling include:

  • having support in a crisis or trauma
  • having an opportunity to share your thoughts and feelings
  • developing strategies for problem solving, decision making and change
  • identifying and building on your strengths
  • looking at alternative ways of behaving or thinking
  • becoming clearer about your concerns and direction.

DROP-IN BEFORE YOU DROP-OUT
