Progressing from UWSCollege to UWS
One of the advantages of studying at UWSCollege is the direct-entry arrangement with UWS. After successfully completing Foundation Studies and meeting the entry requirements, students are guaranteed entry into a UWS degree course. Students can also opt for a Diploma course at UWSCollege, after which students can progress to second year of their course at UWS.
Assessment
Each subject is assessed through a combination of continual assessment, mid semester and final examinations. In general, for subjects studied over two semesters, the weighting of the assessment is greater in second semester and on the final examinations. Details for each subject are contained in the individual subject outlines.
Credit points
Each subject offered within the Foundation Studies program has credit point values as indicated.
Grade point average
The Grade Point Average is calculated by multiplying the grade point value obtained in each subject by the credit point value of the subject, thus providing a subject score. The sum of the subject scores is then divided by the total number of subjects points. This is then multiplied by two to give a score out of 10. Calculations are rounded to the first decimal place.
Minimum English Language grades
Students must achieve a minimum C grade in English to enter university. For some courses (see table below), a B grade pass in English (minimum 70) is required.
UWS degree entry requirements for Diploma students
To successfully complete the Diploma at UWSCollege students will need a 50% pass in their subjects. This will enable students to proceed to UWS with Advanced Standing of one year equivalent.
Further study at other universities
Although UWSCollege is owned by UWS, students are not locked into studying at UWS after completing the university-entry course. Students can apply to any Australian university and will be assessed by that university on individual merit.
