Progressing from UWSCollege to UWS
One of the advantages of studying at UWSCollege is the direct-entry arrangement with the University of Western Sydney (UWS). After successfully completing University Foundation Studies (UFS) and meeting the entry requirements, you are guaranteed entry into a UWS degree course. You can also opt for a diploma course at UWSCollege, after which students can progress to second year of the corresponding bachelor's degree at UWS.
Assessment
Each unit is assessed through a combination of continual assessment and mid-term and final examinations. Details for each unit are contained in the individual Unit Outlines.
Credit points
Each unit offered within the University Foundation Studies Program has a particular credit point value as indicated in the tables under "UFS Specialisations" below.
Grade Point Average
The Grade Point Average is calculated by multiplying the grade point value obtained in a unit by the credit point value of the unit, thus providing a unit score. The sum of the unit scores is then divided by the total number of credit points for the units. Calculations are rounded to the first decimal place.
Minimum English language grades
You must achieve a minimum C grade in English to enter university. For some courses, a B grade pass in English is required.
UWS degree entry requirements
Diploma students
To successfully complete a diploma at UWSCollege, you will need a 50% pass in all units. This will enable you to proceed to the second year of the corresponding degree at UWS with advanced standing equivalent to a year of study.
University Foundation Studies students
To successfully gain entry to UWS from a UWSCollege UFS course, you will need to meet the minimum GPA, English and, in some cases, Mathematics requirements for your specialisation. This will enable you to proceed to the first year of the corresponding UWS degree.
For details of the minimum requirements for each corresponding UWS degree, see the articulation requirements table.
Further study at other universities
Although UWSCollege is owned by UWS, you are not locked into studying at UWS after completing the university-entry course. You can apply to any Australian university and will be assessed by that university on individual merit.
