Information for Providers
UWS proudly values the strong relationships and partnerships it has established with many TAFENSW and private VET colleges, particularly in the greater western Sydney region. For many years UWS has consistently admitted between 15 and 25% of its undergraduate cohort on the basis of previous VET studies. This is almost twice the average rate of other Australian universities. Not only has UWS recognised VET studies consistently over many years, there has also been a committed effort to establish quality relationships with VET providers to formalise pathways and provide assurance to their students of a guaranteed offer and credit towards their degree studies. To facilitate this commitment UWS has a dedicated VET Partnerships and Pathways Unit that centrally manages all elements of these cross sectoral initiatives.
Benefits of a partnership
Some of the benefits that VET partners have expressed are:
- Ability to confidently provide further learning pathways for their students
- Recognition of the value of VET studies as a strong underpinning pre-requisite for university
- Actively promote sequential pathways through VET courses to university
- Guaranteed entry for partner provider students
- Opportunities to build relationships and collaborate with UWS specialists
- Access to early preparation and transition activities for their students
