Campus Community Yoga
Free yoga classes will be held on the Bankstown campus late Tuesday afternoon during 2H/Spring Semester (see exact dates below). Whether you are a beginner or a regular practitioner, this will be a fun, challenging and restorative class. Join in to experience the benefits of yoga and enhance your sense of wellbeing on campus.
The Campus Community Yoga (CCY) classes will be instructed by Dr Son Truong, a lecturer in the School of Education and a registered yoga teacher.
In this class you will experience Hatha yoga postures sequenced together to create an invigorating and restorative practice. The class is open to all levels of experience, and variations will be taught to suit different levels of ability and challenge.
CCY started in 2012 with support from a Campus Life Grant. The goal of this initiative is to bring together UWS students and staff in a fun, inclusive, and accessible environment to experience yoga. Yoga is often associated with benefits, such as relaxation, mindfulness, flexibility, strength building, and stress reduction.
Please arrive 5–10 minutes early to each class to set-up your mat and remember to turn off your mobile phones.
The Sports Hall does not have change rooms. Kindly arrive in appropriate attire, such as athletic shorts or pants, and a t-shirt. The room can be cool so you may want an extra shirt. You may also want to bring a water bottle or any of your own props (e.g. a block or strap). It’s best not to eat right before class.
