Writing & Society Research Group activities

Forthcoming and recent activities

As its brief suggests, the  Writing and Society Research Group is committed to exploring the and developing the social dimensions of writing in Australia. The presentation of significant public events related to writing is an essential part of its program.

Through the Sydney Seminar for the Arts and Philosophy, the Group presents lectures, discussions and performances related to the philosophical and cognitive understandings of what art can do. Launches and readings to mark new Giramondo releases, and literary events presented by HEAT in collaboration with Sydney Grammar School, focus on issues in contemporary Australian writing, and provide a platform for emerging and established authors. The Group’s research projects also have a strong public dimension, particularly in relation to the Greater Western Sydney region. Finally, our seminars are open to participants from other universities, and interested writers, critics and researchers.

Please follow the left hand sidebar menu for details about upcoming events in our seminar, lecture and conference programs.
